ED 558C - Ethics in Education3 This graduate course provides an advanced exploration of ethical theory and its application tocomplex, real-world issues within educational contexts. Students will engage with foundationalmoral philosophies—including utilitarianism, deontology, and virtue ethics—to analyze andaddress contemporary ethical dilemmas faced by educators and leaders.
The curriculum tackles issues concerning the ethical, moral, and civic responsibilities ofeducation, with a strong focus on social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Through criticalanalysis, academic debate, and case studies, students will develop the capacity to articulatetheir own informed positions, foster responsible practices, and shape ethical and transformativechange within educational systems.
