College of Arts and Sciences


The College of Arts and Sciences is composed of the following departments and programs: Business Administration and Accounting; Fine Arts; Humanities; Literature and Languages; Mathematics, Computer Sciences, and Pre-Engineering; Medical Laboratory Science; Nursing; Science; Social Science; and Social Work. Each department offers a variety of programs, which are designed to prepare students for careers in professions that meet the needs of a modern multicultural society. Students may earn Certificates, Associate of Arts degrees, Bachelor of Arts degrees, Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of Social Work degrees, a Master of Arts in Multicultural English Literature & Language, and a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences. An understanding of theoretical principles and practical applications is emphasized in all the college’s programs.

Each department or program in the College of Arts and Sciences performs an assessment of academic achievement prior to graduation. These assessments may include an interview, review of a portfolio containing the student’s work, and/or review of performance capstone courses. The purposes of these culminating assessments are to provide a tangible basis for assurance that learning goals have been achieved and to assess the effectiveness of the academic programs offered by the college.

The faculty members and students in the College of Arts and Sciences actively engage with local community partners in both research projects and service learning projects to address issues of concern to the communities that Heritage University serves. Undergraduate research provides valuable services to local partners and practical experience for students.

The College of Arts and Science also supports subject matter courses for education majors seeking a variety of teaching certificates and endorsements.
