Teacher Professional Certification: 6 Credits
The Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) and the Washington State Legislature have changed teacher certification requirements. September 1, 2011, marked the beginning of the external assessment process for ALL teachers holding a Residency Teaching Certificate. Teachers will have the option of completing ProTeach Portfolio requirements individually or through a state-approved support program. Professional certificate candidates will be responsible for submitting their ProTeach Portfolios and the evaluation fee, following guidelines set by the PESB. Heritage University offers a support program for all teachers who would like individualized guidance to understand and complete the ProTeach Portfolio assessment process. Teachers interested in attending our support program may earn 6 graduate credits or 30-90 clock hours.

Note:
Disclaimer: Teacher certification initial or advanced requirements are dictated by the Washington state Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB), therefore, our advanced certification support program must reflect current requirements. Please verify course catalog information with personnel form the Graduate Office and/or the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Completion of the ProTeach Portfolio Support Program does not guarantee passing the portfolio external assessment and receiving your Professional Certificate. Heritage University Support Program Faculty are trained to guide candidates through the process of completing the ProTeach Portfolio. They do not evaluate candidates’ portfolio and do not recommend for Certification. |
