BIOL 501 - Medical Physiology I5 credits The purpose of this course is to empower medical students with a basic understanding of human physiology needed for integration with other medical disciplines and competent clinical practice. This one semester combination of lecture and skills courses is a comprehensive study of normal human physiology and neurophysiology. It will focus on properties and functions of living cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems with special emphasis on integration and control mechanisms. The course includes an overview of the physiology of the human nervous system as it relates to perception, behavior, and the control of bodily functions. Offered Fall semesters.
