ECS 308 - Diversity and Cultural Competence in Young Children and Families3 credits Content of the course helps candidates understand the psychological basis of parenting across a range of families and contexts. Candidates learn about, understand, and value the importance and complex characteristics of children’s families and communities. The candidates use this understanding of stages of parenting to create respectful, reciprocal relationships that support, empower, and involve families in their children’s development and learning. Candidates continue to develop a self-reflective ability that helps candidates think about their responses to families and use that as the candidate works with families.
