CHEM 110 - General Chemistry I3 credits The first course of a two-semester sequence for Biology, Environmental Science, and STEM majors. A quantitative treatment of the principles of chemistry with problem-solving emphasis and laboratory applications. Topics include: atomic theory, structure of the atom, periodic pattern, chemical calculations, ideal-gas equation, thermochemistry, ionic bonding, chemical equilibrium, acids and bases, buffers, Lewis structures.
Offered Fall semesters. Prerequisite(s): C grade or higher in Intermediate Algebra (MATH 096 ), and one year of high school chemistry or department chair permission. Co-requisite(s): CHEM 110L .
