Characteristics of the Associate Degree Nurse graduate are evident by;
- Demonstrates critical thinking when working with the patient to achieve the highest level of functioning through utilization of the nursing process.
- Applies knowledge of the developmental stages of the lifespan while performing patient care and the nursing process.
- Promotes quality patient care and uses effective communication techniques in a variety of settings.
- Applies leadership and patient advocacy while using the nursing process for individuals of multicultural and varied settings.
- Utilizes the nursing process appropriately with health teaching based on individualized patient needs.
- Safely administers medications following the principles of pharmacology within the RN scope of practice.
- Integrates basic nutritional principles in the care of patients and integrates health teaching for the patient’s optimal well-being.
- Utilizes ethical/legal principles in professional conduct and demonstrates accountability for actions taken within the registered nurse role.
- Maintains a safe environment for patient, self and other members of the health care team.
- Applies the multidimensional concepts of health and well-being in planning, implementing and evaluating care for the individuals from various cultures in a variety of settings.
The following courses are required before an application can be submitted to the PN program. These classes are the courses required for the Certificate PN.
