Program learning outcomes can be found on the Literature and Languages Department page of the catalog. This baccalaureate degree program gives students an understanding and appreciation of the English language and its literature. It also emphasizes and develops writing, editing, and analytical skills vital to success in professional life. These language skills and the developed insights of the English major often prove attractive to an employer or graduate program as preparation for specialized training in a particular career or field.

General University Course Requirements: 36-39 credits

Cross-disciplinary Core: 12-13 credits


One upper-level History course, in addition to the following:

Approved Supporting Coursework (as needed) 3-23 credits


Minimum total credits 120, including 48 upper-division credits
