This baccalaureate degree program gives students an understanding and appreciation of the English language and its literature. It also emphasizes and develops writing, editing, and analytical skills vital to success in professional life. These language skills and the developed insights of the English major often prove attractive to an employer or graduate program as preparation for specialized training in a particular career or field.

Departmental GUCR Recommendations
Cross-disciplinary Core: 12-13 credits
One upper-level History course, in addition to the following:
English Major Courses: 42-54 credits
(15 credits may be applied to both the GUCRs and the major or cross-disciplinary core*)
Two upper-division literature courses selected from the following: 6 credits
One advanced writing courses selected from the following: 3 credits
Approved Supporting Coursework (as needed) 3-23 credits
Minimum total credits 120, including 48 upper-division credits

All students are expected to meet regularly with their assigned advisor regarding their course of study and progress toward degree/program completion. |
