CHEM 312 - Bioorganic Chemistry

3 credits
An in-depth study, with mechanistic emphasis, of the structure and reactivity of the major classes of bioorganic molecules. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to think rationally about the fundamental organic chemistry of living systems. Topics include molecular orbital theory, acid-base equilibria,catalysis, chirality, heterocycles, amino acids, carbohydates, nucleic acids, coenzyme mechanisms, and lipids. Offered spring semester.
